The One Pair of Jeans That Never Let Me Down

I never used to be a “jeans girl.”

They were always a struggle—either too stiff, too tight on the thighs, gaping at the waist, or sagging in weird places by 3 p.m. I tried all the “cult favorites,” from Levi’s to Agolde, and while some came close, none made it past the dreaded laundry test: that moment when they’re clean, folded, and I still don’t want to wear them again.

But then I found my pair. They’re from Citizens of Humanity, a slightly cropped, high-rise straight-leg style in a soft-but-not-too-soft medium blue wash. I’ve had them for over a year now. I wear them at least three times a week—and somehow, they just keep getting better.

What Makes Them That Pair

They’re not flashy. No weird rips, no overdone fades. Just clean, classic, endlessly wearable denim. But it’s the fit that does it.

I’m 5’4”, with hips, and these jeans somehow make my legs look longer and straighter without squeezing the life out of my waist. They hold me in just enough, but I can still sit cross-legged on the couch without unbuttoning anything.

And let’s talk about the length. I usually have to hem everything, but this cropped cut hits exactly at the ankle—no tailoring, no rolling. If you’re petite or have shorter legs like I do, these are a dream.

How I Style Them (On Repeat)

I’ve worn them with:

  • A simple white tee and Supergas on lazy mornings
  • A black turtleneck and pointed boots for dinner
  • An oversized blazer and slingbacks when I want to look like I’ve got my life together
  • A tucked-in silk blouse and kitten heels on dates
  • Even with ballet flats and a hoodie when running to the konbini

They somehow match every mood, every season, every version of myself. That’s rare.

More Than Just Denim

What surprised me is how they’ve become part of my identity. You know how there are clothes that make you feel like a better version of yourself? These jeans do that.

They remind me I don’t need a massive wardrobe to feel stylish—I just need a few pieces that I truly love and trust. And when I’m not sure what to wear, they’re the first thing I reach for. Always.

If you’re still hunting for the perfect jeans, here’s my advice:
Go for fit over trends. Look for a fabric with a bit of structure but not too much stretch. And when you find a pair that makes you feel right—buy them in two washes. You won’t regret it.
